Who is

Lee Hankey

Lee graduated from Christina Martin School of Food and Wine in Durban and started off his career working at Home restaurant in Durban. After gaining some valuable experience and trying out a few different lines of work, he decided he’d like to try his hand at running his own business.

In 2006 Flavour Café opened its doors (it is still in its current location) in the leafy suburb of Ferncliffe, Pietermaritzburg. The business has grown from a quaint and charming nursery café to a popular and thriving establishment. Lee loves pushing the boundaries with food and creating totally delicious meals and sweet treats and if you haven’t heard the business name, you have almost certainly seen a picture of one of his crazy Flavour Shakes or our Stacked Burgers. Lee thrives on making the most exciting and exotic ls and the most amazing milkshakes you have ever seen!

How

It Started

History of Flavour Café, we can be found in the tranquil setting of Dunrobin Garden Centre. We are a family-oriented eatery (pet-friendly too!) and have a children’s play area suitable for most ages. We offer a simple yet carefully curated menu and can host the public for breakfast, lunch and afternoon tea. At Flavour we want you to make yourself at home- sit at a table or chill on a comfy couch, but be sure to soak up the relaxing space & let us take care of you. We are prepared for all weather conditions and have a cosy inside area with a fireplace for those chilly days but boy are the sunny days the best! Our food is fresh & made to order and we try to support local as much as possible!

Expert advice from Lee Hankey – I have designed the various versions of the Flavour Menu for over 12 years and have a flare and passion for creating delicious menu items. I have also trained my kitchen staff in the and correct cooking & prepping techniques.
